JOIN THE TREND OF GOING NATURAL!

Join The Trend Of Going Natural; Check Out The Benefits.

Kassy Sims

A lot of African American women are saying “So Long” to their lengthy locks and going natural. The thought of no perms or the option of cutting your hair tends to scare off the beginners. As I dove deep into the natural fad I realized that there are plenty of benefits to joining the natural society. Instead of hiding under a scarf or hats on bad hair days you can rock a natural fro or curl. By becoming natural you will develop a relationship with your hair and enjoy the versatility and freedom of rocking a natural look.

It’s important to keep in mind that perms aren’t always the best thing for your hair. The chemicals used in perms are the same chemicals used to make drain cleaners to unclog sinks. It is even used to remove fur from animals in the leather making industry. So would you want these chemicals in your hair every month? One advantage of becoming natural is having much thicker hair. Your hair won't be so thin and break off easily which in turn makes it grow longer and stronger. There are a lot of new stylists who specialize in natural hair since the trend is becoming more popular.

The second benefit is VERSITILITY. You will have more freedom to do more hair styles. Even though it may be difficult to maintain your natural hair, without the chemicals your hair will be more healthier and flexible. You have seen the benefits and hopefully decided to take the journey into natural hair land. Many celebrities have jumped on board such as Jill Scott, Kelis, Lauryn Hill, Lenny Kravitz, Macy Gray, and Monique Coleman. Next you will have to decide how will you make the transition from relaxed hair to natural hair. Just keep in mind- you are not your hair and your hair doesn’t define you.
